Overview of PHP Sorting Algorithms

Quick Sort

Merge Sort

Merge Sort also uses divide-and-conquer by recursively dividing the array into two parts, sorting them, and merging them together. Its time complexity is consistently O(n log n), suitable for stable sorting requirements.

Heap Sort

Heap Sort is based on the heap data structure. It builds a heap from the array and then repeatedly extracts the root element to obtain a sorted array. Its time complexity is O(n log n), suitable for large-scale sorting.

Bucket Sort

Bucket Sort is suitable for elements with a limited and known range of values. Elements are distributed into buckets, sorted within each bucket, and then merged. Its time complexity is O(n + k), where k is the number of buckets.

Choosing the Right Sorting Algorithm

Selecting an appropriate sorting algorithm should consider data size, type, and performance requirements. For small datasets, simple algorithms like Bubble Sort or Selection Sort may suffice.
